I assume there is Wych Elm there. I had a quick look around where the trap was but nothing looked like Elm to me, but my tree skills are minimal. There must be Elm of some description because we caught a Clouded Magpie in the same trap, another Elm feeder.
Thanks Liz, I thought we had one there but I didn't keep a record. According to Peter's records there were 2 records for it last year, I wonder where the other one was. Waring says flight season is May to early July, but Fowles has records in to August.
What a good record and a beautiful moth! I presume there are plentiful Wych Elm in the woodland?
ReplyDeleteCarolyn.

DeleteWe caught one at Llanerchaeron in Aug 2012. Amazingly no photo of it!
ReplyDeleteWe are there again on the 11th Aug so hopefully might catch one again.
