tischeria ekebladella

this is a leaf miner on oak and sweet chestnut, found flying in mixed woodland yesterday afternoon. it can be identified by its large size (! - the forewing of this individual is 5 mm long) and pale head.

  1. Presumably you mean identified from the very similar Coptotriche (Emmetia) marginea, which is smaller, but there is an overlap at the bottom end of ekebladella and upper end of marginea. C. marginea does have a head tuft in fresh specimens. But I agree with your id.
