I set two traps on the outskirts of Aberystwyth last night and was rewarded with 50+ species. New for the year included Oak
Hooktip (6), Green Carpet (3), Scorched Wing (3), Chinese Character,
Miller (2), Shears, Common Lutestring, and Straw Dot. And
something I've labelled as Dusky Brocade but really not sure. The most micros I've caught for some time included Agapeta hamana (4),
Cydia pomonella, Homoeosoma sinuella, Rhyacionia pinivorana, and
Incurvaria oehlmanniella. Also a possible Cydia cosmophorana.

Dusky Brocade looks ok to me although the leading edge looks very straight in the photo, maybe due to it being in a container.
ReplyDeleteI chatted with Martin Townsend about this one and we think it is a Glaucous Shears rather than a Dusky Brocade
DeleteHopefully you've kept the Cydia for me, we need another image on the dissection website anyway for it
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony, Peter. Yes, the leading edge did strike me as very straight; I can see that GS would work with its white bits coloured grey. I'll put the Cydia on ice.
