Blossom Underwing

Although we cannot possibly compete with these recent heavy weight catches, amongst last night's haul of only 21 moths of 9 macro species we were delighted to find our second ever Blossom Underwing in our woodland trap.

  1. Great, I knew you could find it! Tony may post other B/U records later.

  2. Only 13 records in the last 10 years and 4 of those were last year. 5 of the 13 are from our garden in Talybont but never more than 1 record per year. There have been a few reports this year (and we have had our 1) so maybe they are increasing. The recent Moths Atlas gives an 80% decline in distribution from 2000 to 2016 but does not give a figure for decline in abundance.
