Could this be as slightly early second generation Golden-rod Pug [FW 10mm] found last night in our conservatory? There is plenty of Ragwort around for the larval food plant and Golden-rod in the garden next door.

I think your pug may be Larch rather than Golden-rod. White thoracic crest and post-median line sharply angled around discal spot are evident. Golden-rod has black dashes on wing veins.
Thanks Mike and Liz. It looks the perfect match. I wasn't completely happy but with the size, white thoracic crest and some chequering of the veins it seemed the best match I could find. I'll remember Larch Pug next time! Carolyn.
