Frosted not so green

My wood near cardigan supplied 3 new moths for the site this year: Red Green Carpet and Frosted Green neither of which were green and a Water Carpet.  The second FG was living up to its name and then, to demonstrate, jumped off to pose on a suitable bit of camouflage...what a smart moth!

Water Carpet was also nice and fresh.
There are some big old oaks in the wood so I have high expectations for the future!

  1. Frosted Green is very much declined nationally but is doing well here. The number of records has doubled in the last few years (except in RIS traps). It can be very abundant at light traps with 30 or more individuals on 3 occasions in the last 2 years.
