I had a Little Nut-tree...

A warm night produced 25 macro species, the high spot of which were two egg laying female Fox Moths and several firsts for this year, some of which are shown below.

Here's a Pale Tussock....

I think it might be a male (smaller, and plainer apparently) but since I don't have anything to compare it with I can't be sure!

A few more from or Talybont garden

Now, don't get over excited!  Things are looking up here in the garden with one or two new species for the year, no new ones for the garden yet though.  Not quite as good as exploring different habitats as we should be doing this time of year but none the less some welcome old friends are returning.
Also three May Bugs that our resident male Sparrow was most grateful for to feed his growing family. He seeks them out, prefers them to moths thank goodness.

White Ermine

I am encouraging a very talented natural history photographer from Llandre, John Ibbotson, to get into moth trapping and have lent him a trap.
Last night he had no success but today he sent me this wonderful photo.
Wonderful that is if you are a Robin, not so wonderful if you are a moth.
