Garden v oak woodland

We ran 2 traps last night, a 60W in the garden and a 6W in nearby oak woodland. Results were: garden 7 macro species and 2 micros, woodland 6 macro species and 1 micro. Both traps had Large Yellow Underwing and Common Marbled Carpet. Other garden species were Heart and Dart, Spruce Carpet, Dusky Thorn, Willow Beauty, Rosy Rustic, Epiphyas postvittana, and Eudonia angustea. Others from the woodland: Copper Underwing agg. (too worn to determine), Pink-barred Sallow, Pale Pinion, Red-line Quaker, and a very worn Crambid.

Llawrcwrt - Late Moths

A couple of moths in the trap last night. I don't know quite why, but I'm always particularly pleased to find a nice fresh Black Rustic.

Talybont Garden

Not a lot of moths last night but at least they were not in the need of water-wings!
Two were new for the garden, Flounced Chestnut and Cedestis subfasciella.
We struggled for a while with a very worn Turnip Moth probably an immigrant along with a worn Silver Y.
Others; Large Y/u of course, Double-striped Pug, Black Rustic, Green-brindled Crescent and Square-spot Rustic. Micros apart from subfasciella were the ubiquitous Epiphyas postvittana and Eudonia angustea.

Nebo/ Cross Inn

I'm advised that this is an early instar Drinker.

It obviously hasn't read that it's supposed to feed on grasses, as this specimen only started on the Blackthorn leaves when most of the bark had gone!

Nebo/Cross Inn Larva ID

I'd purposefully left the Rosebay Willow Herb in place, resisting the temptation to dig it up even though it is a bit untidy. Today I found this pair, curiously on adjacent leaves.

Any ideas for an ID - green with white bands seems to be fairly common but I'm hoping someone might know the other one??

Coast traps - Black-banded

Three small heath traps last night averaged above 100 per trap.
Among them were eleven or a dozen Black-banded, we say this as there were 11 definite and one that was the right size and shape but had been through the wars a bit! So, eleven only recorded.

Now...find the moths!  Ina and Tony

Scarce Bordered Straw

The perfect weather last night in Aberystwyth kept me out late watching the garden trap. My reward:
Scarce Bordered Straw
Also my first Burnished Brass for four years:
Burnished Brass
Other macros included Cloaked Minor and Ruby Tiger, and plenty of Double-striped Pugs among the LYUs. Among the micros were Mint moth, Phyllonorycter ulmifoliella (probably), Argyresthia curvella and Common Clothes moth.
