December Moths

We had 42 moths of six species in our oak woodland trap last night despite hail showers and a minimum temperature of 0.9°C.  These included one female and four male December Moths.  There was a size difference of 7 mm and the respective antennae are clearly visible in this photo.  The other moths comprised Winter Moth, Chestnut, Red-green Carpet, Grey Shoulder-knot & 32 Mottled Umber.
