Poplar Hawk-moth

A nice Poplar Hawk-moth in the trap this morning. The last one I caught was on the 20th July so I wonder if  this is Second generation. I read that there is sometimes a partial second generation in the South but I wonder if it is common in Ceredigion.

  1. I think it is safe to say that this is part of a small second generation in Ceredigion. There are low numbers of records for August with peak numbers in June and July. In Dorset they believe there are two generations: May-June and July-Aug with a few into September. In Norfolk they think there is one generation from May to July and a small second generation in August and September.
