Hebrew Character Flight Period

Here is both the distribution and flight period of the Hebrew Character

Hebrew Character

Since the rain had passed and temperatures were staying up (8-10C), I trapped again last night.  I was surprised to find a Hebrew Character on the wall this morning. Also 2 male December Moths.

Moth trap 22nd January

Just one moth, a Dotted Border, from the outside of the trap.  Also, a 15mm larva (poss. Angle Shades?)

Shore Wainscot anyone?

At Ynys Las today and wondered how the Shore Wainscot larvae have coped with this!  There has been a large scale re-arrangement of sand so they may have had a long walk to the nearest bit of marram grass.  Interestingly the sand is also eroded on the estuary side.  Hopefully the name 'Shore' may not be too literal and there will be plenty in the dunes where they only have to contend with rabbits and dogs re-arranging the sand.

My first moth trap of 2014

The weather was much calmer here last night, so I took advantage and put the moth trap out.  This morning there was one female December Moth in the trap.
