Ni Moth

We caught this slightly worn Ni moth on the 3rd of June just before leaving on holiday.  It was subsequently verified by David Brown when we attended one of his moth courses last week.  On looking at the Atropos Flight arrivals web page there have been several sightings of this rare migrant around the country in the last fortnight.

  1. Yes lots of migrants arriving lately, most get snaffled up on the south coast though. Still no Striped Hawkmoths for us though but plenty of Bordered Straw.

  2. How exciting, wish I had seen it. The previous record for Ni moth in the county was in 1965 at the same time as a Striped hawkmoth. Prior to that it was 1943, at the same time as 15 Striped hawkmoths were recorded at Llangrannog. Watch out for these migrant moths.
