Rhos Glendenys, Nebo/ Cross Inn
I went to have a look for Burnets, of which there was no trace.
Quite pleasant though - orchids are out, Meadow brown butterflies, and a section of bees..

Llawrcwrt Returnees
Two moths in the trap this morning that haven't been recorded here since 1991. Tony tells me that the Eyed hawk-moth is only the third recorded here, the first being by Adrian Fowles in 1984.

Ynyslas moths
We had 16 species of macro moths last night. New for us this year were Brussels Lace (10), Clouded Border (3), Mottled Rustic (5), Lackey, Mottled Beauty, Double Dart, Shoulder-striped Wainscot, Striped Wainscot, Light Emerald, and Mullein Wave.

Mother Shipton
We had a wander round at Ynyslas this morning and saw lots of 6-spot Burnet and Cinnabar (adults and small larvae). Also a couple of Pyrausta despicata, a Diamond-back, and 2 Mother Shipton. Old Mother Shipton was a 16th century Yorkshire witch and the markings on forewing of the moth are said to resemble her profile, with a conspicuous eye and hooked nose.

July Belle
I found this on Trychrug (the hills between Cross Inn and Tal-sarn) yesterday. Hopefully I have identified it correctly as July Belle rather than Lead Belle.

Talybont Garden
Not a long list this morning, 13 macro and 2 micro.
Buff-tip, Spectacle, Lesser Swallow Prominent, Foxglove Pug, Garden Carpet, Elephant Hawk. Heart & Dart, Large Yellow Underwing , Fox Moth (m), Treble Lines (1 only today), Setaceous Hebrew Character, Dagger agg. White Ermine, also Epiphyas postvittana (LBAM) and Hofmannophila pseudospretella (Brown House Moth) - we have a shed-load, literally!
First Foxglove Pug, Fox Moth, Dagger and Large Y/u of the year in the garden. It has been a very good year for Treble Lines but maybe they are coming to an end now.
