Garden moth trap 6th May

A much better night with a constant temp. of 12 C.  53 moths which included another Tawny Pinion, a fresh Angle Shades, a very worn moth which I now think is a Nut-tree Tussock (edited), 7 x Brindled Beauty, a Small Phoenix, a Red twin-spot Carpet and 3 x Oak-tree Pug.  Micros were 2 x LBAM, Eudonia angustea and Acleris hastiana.

  1. The field guide says that Brindled beauty sometimes come to light in large numbers but there are only 9 records of more than 7 individuals. They seem to be having a good year.

  2. Thanks for the info., Tony. There seems to be a few moth species having a good year - I see Streamer has been mentioned quite often recently and it was a new one for my garden this year too.
