Spring moths

The garden moth trap last night brought in 2 Hebrew Characters, 1 Twin-spotted Quaker, 1 Common Quaker and a Water Carpet.  Also, this week I have seen Tree Bumblebees (3), my first butterfly of the year - a Small Tortoiseshell, a Drinker caterpillar, lots of Gorse Shield bugs (24 on just one Gorse bush) and a lizard tail (no sign of the rest of the lizard).

  1. There are few records for Water carpet before the middle of March so this one is spot on time. When Adrian Fowles produced "The moths of Ceredigion", the earliest ever date for Water carpet was 4th April!
