Seraphim?

These 2 were in the garden trap from last night.  I think they look like Seraphim, Lobophora halterata, but I don't know of any aspen or poplar here - any thoughts?  Also, here's one of the Elephant Hawkmoths from today, just to brighten my post up.

  1. I've just realised I had Poplar Greys in the trap too, so there should be Poplar trees somewhere close by.

  3. They look like Seraphim to me. They are reported from Black and White poplars in other counties. This is a rare moth in Ceredigion with only 4 records from the north and east of the county.

  4. Thanks Peter and Tony. I'm still working on the micros but I'm sure I'll have some queries tomorrow.....
