Mullein

  1. Never seen either of these moths up here in the frozen north! We have more county records for Privet hawkmoth than for the Mullein, 48 against 18. All those for Privet hawkmoth are coastal, 31 of them in the Aberporth, Cardigan, Llechryd triangle. There is only 1 modern record outside of this area. Of the Mullein records only 4 are for the adult moth the rest are larval. Mullein seems to be on the increase in Ceredigion with the first 2 records in the 1990's.

  4. Thanks Tony and Liz.

Today I've also found 4 Mullein caterpillars on a Mullein plant in another area of Aberporth (the first time I've found any in that location).
